Joseph H. Pilates

Pilates is a system of movement and precise exercises created by German born athlete and physical therapy pioneer, Joseph H. Pilates, in the early 1920's.  He called his system "contrology" and believed in the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body and a sound mind.  The pilates method of exercise educates, re-patterns, realigns and balances the body.  It promotes maximum muscle strength while increasing flexibility, coordination, and stimina.  Pilates also decompresses your joints and consequently stimulates and improves breathing and circulation.
